When you enter The Hollow, you’re immediately provided the opportunity to choose your role, defining who you want to be and how you wish to vanquish the monsters that dwell within The Hollow. Using the provided mission map, you’ll follow the clues and execute the necessary tasks in order to achieve the ultimate goal and put The Hollow monsters back to sleep. From there, journey through nine haunted zones, completing interactive challenges and activities as they work to vanquish the evil forces awakening within. Lighting, fog, sound and immersive environments transform each space. Outside, a tenth, all-ages zone features an illuminated pumpkin patch, mirror rooms, photo boxes, a glow-in-the-dark DIY arts-and-craft space, live entertainment, an inflatable obstacle course and a ball pit.
Highlights of “The Hollow Awakens” include:
- Ten immersive zones: Nine haunted zones await inside “The Hollow,” including two higher-intensity zones – recommended for ages eight and up, with darker lighting, louder sound and jump-scare actors – that guests can choose to skip if they’d like. An all-ages outdoors area features an illuminated pumpkin patch, circus performers, photo ops and more.
- Larger-than-life Halloween displays: Monsters, spirits and ancient beings have come to life through illuminated installations designed to create an otherworldly Halloween environment.
- Trick-or-treating and rewards: Guests can trick-or-treat for candy, take part in a treasure hunt and complete other tasks throughout the experience to earn prizes.
- Glow-in-the-dark DIY: An outdoor creative area offers opportunities to make Halloween-themed art and create masks.
- Immersive photo opportunities: Halloween-themed photo boxes and mirror rooms, plus other distinctive backdrops, offer plenty of opportunities to capture the experience.
- Live entertainment: Jump-scare actors add fright inside “The Hollow,” while roving performers, spooky clowns and nightly circus acts – including the Motorcycle Globe of Death and Wheel of Destiny – bring the outdoor area to life.
Located at 326 Lakewood Center Mall in Lakewood, Calif., “The Hollow Awakens” is open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 11 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and from 5 to 10 p.m. on Sundays. The event is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Tickets start at $17 for children ages four to 12, seniors 62 and older and military personnel, while adult tickets start at $20. Children three and under are free, and parking is complimentary. Some attractions may be too intense for young children.
