Satsuki and her little sister, Mei, move to the country in the dog days of summer with their father to be closer to the hospital where their mother is convalescing. As the sisters explore the cicada-buzzing countryside, they discover that their new home is filled with gentle forest spirits who can only be seen by children. The film’s stunning hand-drawn animation style and childlike whimsy weaves a heartwarming tale that is widely regarded as one of the best animated films of all time. My Neighbor Totoro includes some of Hayao Miyazaki’s most beloved creations such as the soot gremlins, the Cat Bus, and of course the Cheshire-grinned Totoro himself, whose iconic profile appears on every Studio Ghibli release to this day.
On the... last Saturday of every month, the museum's Family Matinee is an accommodative screening where we offer open captioning, keep the theater dimly lit, and maintain a lower volume specifically for neurodivergent viewers.
