Southern California’s LARGEST gingerbread competition with over 200 entries is happening at Discovery Cube Los Angeles! From the apprentice builder to the professional and everything in between, this display is like no other! In the spirit of building, making and competition, this program features learning experiences designed with the engineer in mind.
Activities
Cookie Decorating – Guests will learn about primary and secondary colors and decorate a cookie to take home
Visit Santa Claus: December 6-7, 13-14, and 20-24. Appearances from 11:00 am – 3:00 pm.
Meet a Pastry Chef! Gingerbread demonstrations on December 6-7, 13-14, 20-21, 27-28, and January 3-4. Demo times: 11:00 am and 1:00 pm.
The demonstration will include the following:
- Learn where gingerbread comes from, what it was used for and its use in baking.
- The creation of gingerbread houses and where they were originated, leading to how we associate them with the holidays.
- Demonstration of how kids can make their own gingerbread houses and how to make the edible glue that holds the entire creation together – Royal icing.
- Kids can decorate gingerbread cookies and candies.
